email from a traveling dad
1. I do not exaggerate when I say my dad goes to Asia to eat. One time he sent us an email from China that read like a laundry list of what he ate and how much he spent.
2. My dad was in a karaoke bar. wth?
3. He's currently in Jakarta which is where he sent us this email.

Hi Beth:
Just came back from the local market about two hours ago. It was fun as it is cleaner than Medan.I had Indonesian rice with jack fruit, tapioca leaf and fermented fried bean. G.S. had rice stick noodle soup. It cost me less than $2.00US. H.L. ate the same as G.S. Y. ate dry meat noodle with a mixture of flat rice noodle and rice stick noodle.Ate some pancake and fried banana on the way out of the market. We bought a bunch of Indonesian pastries for snack later on.
We stop at a Padang restaurant to sample fish head curry, jack fruit, shrimp with petai etc.The fish head curry was cooked in front of us.It was really very good with fresh ingredients. While driving back to the resident, Y. made a pit stop and bought two young red skin coconut for us to drink the liquid. It is suppose to be very healthy.
Y. is going to drive us to Punjab(highland) or Bandung tomorrow early in the morning. It is going to be a day trip.I have never been to these places before. Going out to dinner tonight with a friend of G.S.
Last night H.L. took us to his store in Kepala Gading mall to pick up Y. for dinner. The small gold smith store sure have a lot of business. It is located just outside the Carefour dept. store Met his other cousin and two nieces at a sea-food restaurant. Food was good. Ten of us went to a Karaoke place. The music was loud and we only stay for an hour and left them to go back to the house.
H.L. and Y. went to the shop. We are just hanging around the house till dinner time tonight. They have four maid plus driver for two people. There are about seven bedroom here excluding the maid quarter. They are going to fix us lunch in the next couple of hours.
So far in our travel, everything seem to be peaceful in Indonesia. Jakarta is not as clean as Beijing. Time to eat and have to go down-stair now. Love****** Yung
